On November 26, 2022, the Los Angeles Police Department responded to a robbery near 6th Street and La Brea Avenue, leading to the arrest of two suspects. At approximately 12:31 p.m., patrol officers received reports of the robbery, prompting a pursuit of two suspects who fled in a vehicle.
During the chase, the driver collided with an unrelated vehicle, resulting in minor injuries for the other driver and one of the robbery suspects, who was apprehended at the scene. The second suspect escaped on foot, entering another vehicle that also fled.
A subsequent pursuit ensued, but that vehicle was lost. However, the initial suspect was contained within a perimeter and ultimately located by LAPD Metropolitan Division K9 officers. A firearm and the victim’s stolen Rolex watch were recovered.
The suspects, identified as 20-year-old Tyler Dumas and 19-year-old Edwin Witty, are believed to be connected to a series of similar crimes targeting individuals returning from dining or entertainment, particularly in the Hollywood and Wilshire areas. Both were charged with robbery, each facing a bail of $1,000,000.
The investigation is ongoing, and anyone with further information is encouraged to contact LAPD’s Robbery Homicide Division.
