In this educational video from Jacksonville, Florida, we cover a serious incident that occurred on May 11, 2023. The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office responded to a call from a Family Dollar employee who reported a theft in progress. The suspect, identified as Daniel Forrest, fled the scene and was pursued by an officer, who ultimately used a Taser to apprehend him on nearby railroad tracks.
The officer’s command, “Hey come here. Brother I’m going to (expletive) tase you, man,” captures the tense nature of the situation. Following the Taser deployment, Forrest fell and sustained a head injury upon hitting the pavement. Emergency services were called, and he was transported to a local hospital, where doctors discovered internal bleeding. His family has expressed grave concerns over his condition, fearing he might not survive.
Despite the severity of the incident, the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office stated that the officer’s use of force was in accordance with policy.
