In a thrilling incident in Birmingham city centre, our officers successfully apprehended a car thief just two hours after he stole a Porsche 911 GTS. The chase began when Staffordshire Police informed us of a burglary at approximately 4:15 PM on January 25, during which the high-performance sports car was taken.
Reckless driver Lee Smythe quickly discovered that a rear-wheel-drive Porsche struggles in snowy and icy conditions. Our traffic officers effectively used “tactical contact” to box him in, bringing his dangerous driving to a quick halt. After being forcibly removed from the vehicle, Smythe was sentenced to 16 months in prison.
